End of Summer Catch at Home Depot

The title of this post might seem almost weird in a sense, “Last minute Catch at Home Depot;” almost seems too good to be true. Every time I go to Home Depot, I have to admit I love to look through the lights and other home goods products that they have in store. This doesn’t mean I always buy something like that, because at my place of residence I don’t do any kind of homeowner work; considering I rent.

Considering this popular product that I got for a seriously low price is at such high quality, it doesn’t actually matter if you BBQ on the regular. As you can see in the picture of this “spatula,” often otherwise referred to as “The Flipper” in high quality restaurant jobs, it’s a good looking deal!

I would say that the length, height and width of the top of the spatula where you flip on the grill is about 4x4x4. The overall height of the spatula from handle to top is about 20 inches. To be fair, I do currently have a GED study guide with a composition book started on notes in my storage box so there’s only one reason I am bringing length, height and width into the description of this backyard boss. Usually when you measure area such as width, it’s left out due to the height and the length. It’s like you don’t actually consider it a variable and it’s more of a product. Just like the rivets on the side of this $4.99 spatula that I got at The Home Depot at the very end of August.

Although The Home Depot is a popular company, there are a couple of others that are really on the watch list; like Tractor Supply Company and of course Lowes. I usually rely on Home Depot for my go to things, regardless of what kind of home ownership position I am in. My room mates always love the affordable pick me ups for the kitchen for the holidays. Like the Christmas Poinsettias, the little Halloween nick-nacks and also whatever else there is around to spice up the common areas.

To be fair, I am not in a position to be the personal interior decor expert of any living arrangement but to say the least, I like to hold onto and keep nice the things that I do buy for the seasonal decorations. The things I buy are usually affordable and I make sure to keep them away from the stove and package them nicely out of season for next year.

I’m assuming the popular opinion would be that seasonal decorations at affordable prices or other kinds of pick-me-ups at the same price range are most favorited in comparison to other products at Home Depot like STARLINK.

Imagine coming home to your house, telling your spouse or room mates, “Yeah, I am getting into some new AI and tech stuff so I just got a Starlink and also some drones from the mall that have Network Interface Cards.”

This is definitely comparing Apples to Mangos. Perhaps maybe even comparing a banana to a peach; there’s just no way that with an ISP hookup I am convinced that I need a Starlink and Drones from the mall able to be operated over a network infrastructure in my apartment!

And also, in any event, I am not going to look for anything other than home security cameras and lights if I am shopping at home depot for tech. Lots of the lights and the security cameras that they sell are really advanced; with a wide variety of products at low to high price ranges. Of course, if I needed a STARLINK instead of my ISP or iPhone mobile hotspot, then I can rest assured The Home Depot always has them for $350 plus tax, shipping and handling and also offers next day pickup for this item as online orders only.

So far, I have only used this Grilling Spatula one time and it was to get a little something out of my toaster oven. I definitely think that this item is something to reconsider; almost like a knife. Cooking utensils and tools are always something to take precautions on. For example, this grilling spatula has rivets on the side; therefore making it trickier to handle or use inside of regular sautee pans or pots. At first glance you would think it’s a regular spatula but it has rivets on the side. This is one thing that I don’t like about this product.

There are lots of good things to say about this product nonetheless. Starting with the only thing I don’t like and it’s the rivets on the side of the top. The rivets of course are always good to pick up sticky meat from grills, but in most cases I don’t agree that meat should be sticking so much to grills that it requires a riveted knife or tool to remove. The only argument I have here is that cooking properly on a grill doesn’t require these rivets; even for heavy steaks. The key to cooking on a grill is the same as a pan or pot; get the marinade right and make sure the temps are prepared across the board. With a hot grill/pan and the right marinade and cooking process, there won’t be much sticking going on! Additionally, it’s highly unlikely you would use this grilling spatula to really cut up any meat or veggies; furthermore, I don’t see a point to use the tool in that fashion on a non-stick sautee pan or boiling pot.

I haven’t seen any seriously bad reviews about this product online, and I looked because for something so solid costing less than $6.00 after tax is pretty rare. The spatula has a solid rubber casting on the handle, of course the previously mentioned rivets on the side of the top of the flipper and overall has a really nice mass about it. It’s comfortable to handle and it’s strong enough cook a big steak on the grill.

Without a doubt any avid shoppes goer will be able to tell you that you can find some seriously high quality items on clearance/on sale at big retailers as the seasons come in and out. The only thing that’s left as the ultimate question is: “Are these products similarly unpopular or uneasy to sell otherwise.”

Of course business school memories make me challenge even asking this question; but there is some validity. As I mentioned, I didn’t like one thing about this grilling tool and it was the rivets on the side. I feel like more manufactures should take note of this, considering it’s easy to forget there is a cutting tool on the side of the spatula and can easily be forgotten about. This grilling tool isn’t anything super special, but for $5 I almost wouldn’t let it go again. I’m sure there is many thing’s I’ll find this useful for considering I don’t grill at all.

Like I said, the fact the spatula is strong is what I like about using it for moving hot plates inside the oven or perhaps even using it to evenly and professionally flip what I have in the pan; the only thing to remember is the sharp rivets on the side.

With all things taken into consideration, I would say that the cost of ownership for this heavy-duty grilling tool is a little price to pay compared to it’s durability at $4.99 before tax. For five dollars, I would say this end of summer grab is a hot deal to look out for next year!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more Product posts!
